Canoso

In the south-eastern part of Soave Classico, on the hills of Monteforte d’Alpone, stands the Canoso winery. In the early 1970s, Giuseppe Meneghello Canoso, a former cellarman and wine merchant, purchased the Cà del Vento estate, laying the foundations for the construction of a new winery. With the entry into the company of his sons Primo and Massimo, an agronomist and wine technician, an eco-sustainable approach was established, reducing production and increasing quality, arriving at the first bottling in 1990.

In 2016 Canoso met Giovanni, an entrepreneur with wine in his DNA and, together, they decided to relaunch the brand. The company’s current production stands at around 70,000 bottles per year. Winemaking is approached in a minimalist way, combining the value of tradition with the guarantee of latest-generation tools, paying great attention to every single phase without using any products of animal origin.

Most of the work is done in the vineyard. Today the company works 12 hectares of property on the hills, cultivating Garganega, Trebbiano Veronese and Manzoni Bianco, in the Soave Classico area, as well as a selection of red grape varieties for the production of Cabernet Sauvignon, Valpolicella and Amarone. The soils of volcanic origin, enriched by fossils, clay, rocky structures and tuff, are very fertile and low in acids and give a great minerality that complements the fruity and floral scents, giving fullness of taste to every sip.

In short, the Canoso winery, although remaining firmly anchored to tradition, has always looked to the future, investing in a staff composed of young professionals, with international experience and a strong sense of belonging, who take care of this small and precious reality, enhancing the fruits of this land.
